TMK Energy (TMK) has started drilling its Snow Leopard-3 (SL-03) well within the Gurvantes XXXV Coal Seam Gas (CSG) project in Mongolia.

Snow Leopard-3 is the third of four wells in TMK’s initial exploration program targeting thick coal seams.

As part of the SL-03 drilling program, TMK will target the same coal formations intersected in wells SL-01 and SL-02 which delivered consistently high methane content.

The company said it planned to drill SL-03 to 650 metres deep.

TMK will use the results of this drilling work to provide another data point in the outline of the resource and gas characteristics of the coal seams.

“We are pleased to announce that drilling is underway on the third of four wells to be drilled in the current program,” CEO Brendan Stats said.

“The excellent results from the first two wells, Snow Leopard–1 and Snow Leopard–2, give us a high degree of confidence in our geological understanding of the project and our ability to continue to prove up the potential of the highly prospective Gurvantes Coal Seam Gas project.”

TMK was steady on the market with shares trading at 1.1 cents at 12:45 pm AEST.
