TMK Energy (TMK) has completed a drill stem test (DST) and injectivity fall off test (IFOT) at Snow Leopard-02 (SL-02) within the Gurvantes XXXV coal seam gas project in Mongolia.

The testing was conducted in the upper coal seam of the SL-02 well and intersected over 70 metres of gassy coal from a depth of 167 metres.

Preliminary results from gas desorption testing of coal core samples indicate high gas contents. According to the company, preliminary data indicated a “far superior” test result than that achieved at the SL-01 well.

Gas desorption testing is ongoing, with samples continuing to produce gas at the laboratory on site.

Meanwhile, SL-02 is drilling ahead and is currently at a depth of 378 metres. The company plans to drill the well to a 600-metre depth to target the same coal formations intersected in SL-01.

CEO Brendan Stats is hoping further drilling will intersecting a deeper coal seam.

“The drilling and testing of the upper coal seam in Snow Leopard – 2 has gone very well and it is especially pleasing to get a good DST and IFOT test away that should give us a reliable data point for measuring permeability of the upper coal seam at this location,” he said.

Shares were trading flat today at 1.1 cents at 1:50 pm AEST.
