Toro Energy (TOE) has recommenced drilling at the Dusty Nickel Project within the Yandal Greenstone Belt of Western Australia.

The project is located on the same tenure as the company’s Yandal Gold Project but is focused on nickel sulphide exploration over two main target areas, the Dusty Target Area in the north and the Yandal One Target Area in the south.

In March, the company began the 2021 diamond drilling campaign with a focus on testing for extensions of previously intersected massive nickel sulphides.

Drilling at the Dusty target area has so far resulted in the discovery of two areas of massive and semi-massive nickel sulphide mineralisation, referred to as Dusty One and Dusty Two.

TOE said the next drilling program would further test the fertility of the Dusty komatiite along strike of the two discoveries, testing extensions of the massive nickel sulphides intersected.

Geological and structural information gathered will then go towards determining the orientation and morphology of the massive nickel sulphides intersected to date.

A single diamond hole is also planned to be drilled at Yandal One to test the base of the komatiite in the target area which is said to be beneath a geochemical anomaly intersected in the company’s 2016 reverse circulation drilling program.

The planned hole will twin and extend beyond one of the 2016 holes and will be used to identify the source of nickel anomalism in granitoid intersected in that hole.

The 2016 program reportedly confirmed the presence of a large body of folded komatiite-ultramafic rock at the Yandal One Target Area and TOE believes the area is prospective for massive nickel sulphide mineralisation.

Shares closed 6.25 per cent lower at 3 cents each.
