Toro Energy (TOE) has hit up to 70.4 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from the New England target area within its Yandal gold project in Western Australia.

The company received results from rock chip samples collected from the area, which is positioned directly south of the Golden Ways target area.

Field work programs were conducted to further investigate the prospectivity of Golden Ways for gold mineralisation outside two main central veins. Altogether, 229 samples were collected for both geological and gold prospectivity purposes.

Of these, 85 were collated from the New England target area and sent for geochemical analysis. Thirteen of the 85 returned gold concentrations greater than 0.1 g/t gold and a further 17 samples returned anomalous gold concentrations greater that 10 parts per billion gold.

Results from the analysis included 70.4 g/t gold, 27.8 g/t gold and 22.4 g/t gold.

Toro said the results expand the “already highly prospective” Golden Ways target area two kilometres further south and confirmed the prospectivity of the zone.

The company told investors it will use the new results to plan for drill testing which will target quartz vein gold systems.

Toro Energy shares were down 2.94 per cent to trade at 1.7 cents at 11:53 am AEDT.
