Toro Energy (TOE) has confirmed the discovery of semi-massive nickel sulphides at the Dusty Nickel Project in the Yandal Greenstone Belt.

Recently returned geochemical assays from drill core samples confirmed the discovery of the visible semi-massive sulphides at the Dusty 2 prospect within its wholly owned project.

The company says geochemistry showed semi-massive nickel sulphides were intersected at the base of the ultramafic unit, with an average nickel grade of 1.59 per cent nickel over 3.05 metres from 296.4 metres downhole.

The mineralisation is open above and below the intersection, as well as along strike. Toro says the airborne magnetic data shows the Dusty Komatiite has a total strike length of at least 7.5 kilometres.

The company said a depth inversion of magnetic data in the area offers the possibility the magnetic komatiite could increase in thickness at depth. This suggests the possibility for further nickel sulphides at greater thickness.

Drilling has now been temporarily halted while a new drilling contractor mobilises to the nickel project’s site.

Toro Energy shares last traded at 1.3 cents on August 23.
