Smart city solutions company Traffic Technologies (TTI) has received a further order from Ausgrid for the largest smart lighting upgrade program across Australia.

Ausgrid has ordered a further 7000 next generation LED street lights in addition to its initial order of street lights in March.

The street lights will form part of a major upgrade announced by Ausgrid and Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils.

Ausgrid is the largest distributor of electricity on Australia’s east coast. It owns, maintains and operates the electrical networks supplying 1.8 million customers in Sydney, the Central Coast and Hunter regions of New South Wales.

As part of the smart lightning upgrade program across Australia, Ausgrid announced a significant expansion in the number of street lights to be upgraded in NSW – with more than 92,000 to be upgraded over the next three years.

“The award of this additional order validates the quality and efficacy of our company’s market-leading next-generation street lights and secures our position as the preferred supplier of smart LED street lights to Ausgrid,” Managing Director Con Liosatos said.

“We are honoured to have been given the opportunity to play a role in facilitating this generationally significant upgrade of LED street lights. We expect that our state-of-the-art street lighting technology will contribute to significant savings to councils and substantial reductions in greenhouse gas emissions across NSW, benefitting
people and communities.”

On the market, TTI shares were in the grey and trading at two cents per share at 1:57 pm AEST.
