Traffic Technologies (TTI) has been awarded a contract for the supply of its specialist Smart City software for the road network in Qatar in time for the 2022 soccer World Cup.

The Smart City software creates a digital copy of a virtual representation of the road
network that can used for applications such as traffic control systems.

According to Traffic Technologies, the data enables more efficient traffic management across multiple transport systems.

The latest application incorporates a special priority for buses during the World Cup.

The contract is worth up to $1.4 million annually and covers the supply of Smart City software.

“It (the contract) represents a significant strategic opportunity to deploy next-generation Smart City technology in an expanding overseas market,” Traffic Technologies Managing Director Con Liosatos said.

“We see this as a pivotal step for the company in providing SaaS across our markets and in particular, using digital technology to manage multiple transport systems around the world, including autonomous vehicles in the future.”

The company says the software reduces operational costs through running without manual intervention, being self-calibrating and not requiring ongoing traffic surveys and manual plan generation while ensuring consistent intersection data.

Future applications planned by Traffic Technologies include interaction and messaging to connected and autonomous vehicles.

TTI shares were steady at 2.5 cents at 4:04 pm AEST.
