Trigg Mining (TMG) has found priority palaeovalley sulphate of potash (SOP) targets through a recent ground gravity survey at Lake Throssell in WA.

The company completed the off-lake survey in March.

The survey identified several strong indicators of a palaeovalley underneath the lake’s surface, which could potentially extend into the new tenant applications to the north and south of the main area.

These targets are highly prospective for high-grade SOP endowment within the palaeochannel. Trigg believes these targets have strong potential for large-scale SOP mineralisation.

What’s next?

The targets will now be investigated in an upcoming maiden aircore drilling program. This program aims to establish the tenor of surface mineralisation, averaging 11,800 milligrams per litre (mg/l) of SOP and up to 14,800 mg/l of SOP.

Depending on the results, the program will also underpin a potential maiden JORC Mineral Resource.

The aircore program will commence once travel restrictions around COVID-19 ease.

What is SOP?

Sulphate of Potash has a very high potassium content, which makes it ideal for encouraging strong flower and fruit development.

It also helps to ripen and strengthen plants ensuring they can defend against pest, disease and weather damage.

Managing Director Keren Paterson said the gravity survey results show the potential of Lake Throssell.

“The data clearly indicates the presence of a large palaeovalley system beneath the lake surface, which we believe could host strong SOP mineralisation,” she said.

“This potential will be targeted by our upcoming maiden air-core drilling program as soon as the COVID-19 travel restrictions allow,” she added.

Trigg Mining is down 5.71 per cent on the market today, trading for 6.6 cents per share at 11:01 am AEST.
