Tyranna Resources (TYX) has struck 2.02 per cent lithium over nearly 23 metres in its maiden drill program at the Namibe lithium project in Angola.

The results come from drilling at the Muvero prospect and include intersections of high-grade lithium mineralisation, tantalum and tin.

Assays from the program included 22.75 metres at 2.02 per cent lithium oxide from 20.25 metres, including seven metres at 3.06 per cent lithium oxide from 24 metres.

Additionally, “very” high grades of tantalum and tin were uncovered, which Tyranna said suggested zones of “economically significant” tantalum and tin mineralisation could be present in the Muvero pegmatite.

“With only two per cent of the pegmatites in the Namibe lithium project having been sampled, these high-grade results from the Muvero prospect are a very strong indication of what may be present at other prospects,” Tyranna Technical Director Peter Spitalny said.

“2023 is shaping up to be a busy and exciting year, and these results may be the first discovery of a new and exciting lithium region in Africa!”

The company’s next steps will include metallurgical testing of the bulk sample and fieldwork testing remote targets within the project.

The company is also finalising its next exploration campaign, which will include deeper drilling at the Muvero prospect and drilling across at least two other prospects.

TYX said the second drill program at Namibe would begin as soon as possible, and the exploration team would fast-track planning due to the “very exciting” maiden drill results obtained.

Tyranna shares were up 7.41 per cent and trading at 2.9 cents at 1:55 pm AEDT.
