WIN Metals (ASX: WIN) has lodged two key permit applications for the planned restart of its Radio Gold Project in Western Australia, marking another step towards redevelopment of the historic operation.

The company submitted its Mine Development and Closure Plan to the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration on 11 September, followed by a Works Approval application to the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation on 18 September.

The MDCP covers the proposed recommencement of both open pit and underground mining at Radio, while the Works Approval seeks approval for construction of a new 120,000-tonne-per-year gravity and carbon-in-pulp processing plant and an embankment raise at the existing TSF2 tailings facility.

WIN said the proposed TSF2 works would increase available capacity by 450,000 tonnes of new tailings.

The Radio Gold Project is located in the Shire of Yilgarn, around 8km north of Bullfinch and 38km northwest of Southern Cross in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields.

With the key permitting applications now submitted, WIN said its focus can increasingly shift towards funding requirements, a potential final investment decision and further exploration aimed at extending the project’s mine life.

Managing Director and CEO Steve Norregaard said the permit lodgements provided a clearer roadmap towards redevelopment, while the company also looks to extend mine life through additional drilling and regional resource opportunities.
