Winsome Resources (WR1) has received positive results from testwork at its Cancet and Adina projects in Quebec, Canada.

The company said it achieved “exceptional” metallurgical results in the testwork undertaken on two lithium-bearing samples from the Cancet project and one composite sample from the Adina project.

Heavy liquid separation (HLS) tests achieved global lithium recoveries ranging from 68 to 83 per cent. Overall lithium recoveries, when combining results from HLS and batch flotation testing, ranged from 85 to 94 per cent.

Spodumene concentrate lithia grades were between 5.96 to 6.27 per cent lithium.

The company said the initial testwork results show the potential for a dense media separation (DMS) processing route which would reportedly lessen environmental impacts, lower capital costs and enable quicker approvals.

Managing Director Chris Evans described the metallurgical results as “outstanding”.

“The latest results significantly build on test work done previously by MetalsTech, which tested a Cancet composite with HLS. We have expanded the testing to include Adina and flotation test work on samples from both projects,” he said.

Mr Evans said the recoveries are exceptional with just HLS but are further improved with flotation testwork.

Winsome Resources plans to undertake further testing to investigate iron rejection in the flowsheet, the impact of host rock dilution on metallurgical performance, and optimisation of the flotation conditions.

This work will support scoping studies for both projects.

Company shares fell 12.5 per cent to trade at 38.5 cents at 2:46 pm AEST.
