Winsome Resources (WR1) said new results from its winter drilling program have added “significant areas” of high-grade lithium at its Cancet project in Quebec, Canada.

Of the seven drill holes for which final results have been received, two have intersected high-grade zones of mineralisation. The other five have been closed out as they didn’t intersect significant lithium mineralisation.

Key results include 25.98 metres at 1.55 per cent lithium oxide from 5.72 metres including 11.28 metres at 2.45 per cent lithium oxide from 5.72 metres.

The company said the confirmation of the high-grade results has increased its knowledge and gives it a clear direction to continue resource development and exploration activities at Cancet.

“These high-grade results prove Cancet contains world class levels of lithium mineralisation close to surface,” Managing Director Chris Evans said.

“The latest findings give us further confidence to continue the resource development and exploration work across the significant landholding the company has at Cancet. We remain focused on declaring a maiden resource in the near term.”

Cancet has now been subject to a significant amount of diamond drilling which has outlined a well mineralised, high-grade and shallow ore body.

Field work exploration is now underway at the project.

On the market, WR1 shares were trading 2.5 per cent higher at 20.5 cents each at midday AEST.
