Worley (WOR) has entered a strategic global alliance with Haldor Topsoe, a Danish chemical company and a world leader in catalysis.

Worley will provide technology and specialist services for the removal and recovery of sulphur using acid recycle streams.

Under the partnership, Haldor and Worley Comprimo will licence the TopClaus technology.

Top Claus combines the Claus process with Haldor’s Wet gas Sulfuric Acid (WSA) technology to create a service which optimises operating cost and reduces sulphur emissions.

Worley Comprimo provides gas treating and sulphur technology services, including technology selection, engineering, design, integration and operations expertise.

Worley Comprimo was formed after Worley’s purchase of the Jacobs Energy Chemicals and Resources division.

CEO Chris Ashton is pleased with the new alliance.

“As a global professional services company headquartered in Australia, and consistent with Worley’s purpose of delivering a more sustainable world and our increasing focus on sustainability, we are pleased Haldor Topsoe has engaged Worley in this strategic global alliance,” he said.

“Our combined sulphur capabilities support our customers to meet their sustainability goals and this alliance is an example of how we can work in partnership to support reducing our customers’ emissions,” he added.

On the market this afternoon, Worley is down 3.01 per cent and is trading for $8.71 per share 3:22 pm AEST.
