Digital simulations specialist xReality (XRG) has made the first sale of its Operator LE virtual training system to the WA Police Force.

The contract runs for a five-year period with a total value of $1.7 million. This price includes an initial order of $1.04 million worth of hardware, software licensing and support to be delivered early next year.

“The Western Australia Police Force tendering process pitted operator against established global competitors. The resulting success is validation of a superior product and market fit and we are excited about the future market potential,” XRG CEO Wayne Jones commented.

Operator LE allows police and law enforcement officers to train on operational tactics and procedures in a portable virtual reality format.

This allows officers to train more often, leading to increase preparedness across a range of scenarios including de-escalation, use of force, traffic stops and domestic disputes with new scenarios continually added.

It also includes training accessories such as Glocks, OC spray and tasers, allowing officers to safely train using these items.

The officers will then be put through the After Action Review System to debrief from the angle of another trainee, suspect or third person.

Users are able to train together in a warehouse-scale training facility or remotely in individual spaces.

Training Development Manager, Operational Safety and Tactics Training, WA Police Force Sergeant Mark Crossley said he believes the system will complement the WA Police Force’s existing training programs.

“The WA Police Force was extremely impressed with Operator’s portability, realistic weapons, and scenarios tailored for Australian policing environments.”

Shares in xReality were up 14 per cent and trading at 4.9 cents at 3:05 pm AEDT.
