Respiratory imaging technology company, 4DMedical (ASX:4DX) has entered into a research agreement with the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center for the Veteran Affairs Functional Lung Imaging Study.

The collaboration entails a Cooperative Research & Development Agreement (CRADA) to deploy XV Technology across various chronic respiratory conditions.

“4DMedical is targeting success in the VA through a two-prong approach: top down and bottom up, with the desired outcome being a multi-site pilot leading to a National roll-out,” 4DMedical MD, CEO and Founder Andreas Fouras said.

“We have discussed recent progress in our top-down efforts, including language in the recent budget and public support from the US Senate.”

“Today we announce yet another bottom-up success with another VA site utilising our technology with the ultimate goal of improving Veteran health.

Having VA doctors using our products in this way grows confidence in our solutions and builds momentum and support for a large-scale rollout within the VA.”

The study will involve 40 patients utilizing XV Technology to correlate regional ventilation and ventilation heterogeneity with quality of life measures, including the six-minute walk test and dyspnea scores, to evaluate potential changes in lung function post-treatment.

The gathered data will guide optimized treatment pathways, potentially reducing re-hospitalization or additional medical interventions.

Furthermore, 4DMedical’s involvement in a burn pit research grant awarded to the Nashville VA Medical Center by the Military Exposures Research Program (MERP) underscores the company’s commitment to the long-term lung health of US Veterans.
