Perpetual Resources (PEC) has provided an update on its pre-feasibility study (PFS) at the Beharra Silica Sand Project in WA.

The company began the PFS in July with aims to improve its economics, leading up to a decision to fund the project.

The PFS will cover all aspects of the project, including mining and civil works, processing plant design and analysis, and logistics.

It is being overseen by experienced mining professional Matt Robbins, who has a thorough understanding project development, cost estimation, and study management.

Sales and marketing

Key marketing and sales consultants have been engaged and a detailed market analysis is now underway.

This analysis will determine how Beharra’s end product is positioned within the high-grade silica sand markets.

Further, Perpetual has been approached from silica sand users on multiple occasions and discussions are underway.

Mining

Analysis and decision making is underway in regards to a starter pit location.

Additionally, plant location studies are well advanced.

Engineering

Final deliverables have been received for assembly to potential plant providers and scope of works documents are being assembled.

Equipment providers will be approached in the near-term to begin a competitive bidding process.

Water

Perpetual has submitted the water licence application and discussions are ongoing regarding the ultimate water solution.

Power

Power studies are well advanced and the company is now awaiting a final report which is expected in the coming weeks.

Perpetual is planning on delivering the PFS in January and updates will be provided as key milestones are reached.

“We are pleased to report that the PFS is progressing as well as we could have hoped, with interim feedback on the various work streams suggesting we are right on track, with no negative issues yet encountered,” Managing Director Robert Benussi said.

“On the contrary, our studies and enquiries to date appear to validate our highest expectations for the project, and we look forward to confirming this via the delivery of a high quality PFS in coming months,” he added.

Perpetual is steady on the market and shares are trading for 4.6 cents each at 2:50 pm AEDT.
