Cokal (CKA) has mobilised equipment to secure road access to its Bumi Barito Mineral coal mine pits in Indonesia.

So far, five kilometres of the forest has been cleared to access the former forestry road and ultimately provide a route for the mining contractors to reach the pits.

CKA owns 60 per cent of the Bumi Barito Central Province, which is situated in Kalimantan, Indonesia and covers a mining lease area of 14,980 hectares.

Cokal said construction has been progressing ahead of schedule, with 52 kilometres of the 98-kilometre road to Bumi Barito already in use at full operational status.

According to the explorer, the remaining 46 kilometres of a former forestry road has to be repaired and a few sections of the said road require forest clearing.

Specifically, Cokal said its team will clear recent vegetation where an old road is available and move ahead as quickly as possible. Following this, the team can then follow up with culvert repair until pit three is reached.

Once the mining contractor begins developing site facilities, the access road will be made into an all-weather road.

Cokal is up 4.76 per cent following the announcement, trading at 6.6 cents per share at 12:31 pm AEST.
