Ramelius (RMS) has kicked off mining operations at its Tampia Gold Mine near Narembeen in Western Australia.

The first ore has been mined from the North Pit and the associated waste used to complete required site earthworks.

Mining operations will shortly move to the higher-grade Mace and South Pit areas, in line with the company’s schedule.

Ramelius Managing Director Mark Zeptner said he was pleased to see mining activities commence.

“Gold from Tampia will represent a significant proportion of our financial year 2022 production target and will be our first new mine in the Western Australian wheatbelt where we believe we will deliver significant returns for all stakeholders,” Mr Zeptner said.

With Tampia’s accomodation village and major site earthworks largely complete, the mine’s workforce now stands at roughly 85 per cent capacity, with ramp up ongoing.

The company is on track to despatch the first road train of high-grade ore to the Edna May processing facility in early July.

Ramelius shares were trading at $1.80 each at market close on June 16.
