ECS Botanics (ECS) is set to sell its Extra Virgin Tasmanian Hemp Seed Oil product in Coles stores nationwide.

The product will be stocked in a number of Coles’ 2500 stores from October.

ECS will no longer use Just Food Australia for the distribution of its products which allows it to achieve significantly higher margins.

The hemp seed oil product will be stocked in the cooking oil section of Coles. It can be used in cooking, salads, smoothies and baking.

Hemp seed oil is becoming more popular due to its environmental source of Omega 3 and its anti-inflammatory properties.

Total revenue is uncertain at this time and no minimum volumes have yet to be confirmed.

Managing Director Alex Keach is excited with the partnership and believes the product will be well received.

“We are delighted to be supplying Coles with our premium hemp seed oil product and are confident the product will be well received by consumers,” Mr Keach said.

“As the largest retail supplier of oil in the country, we are witnessing demand for hemp seed oil steadily increase and to now have the product stocked with two of Australia’s largest supermarket retailers, we are well positioned to capitalise on market demand.

“Now that we have established a direct relationship with supermarket groups, we will take advantage of the opportunity to extend the number of products ranged with these retailers.”

Shares in ECS were up 9.09 per cent, trading at 3.6 cents at 12:44 pm AEST.
