Gladiator Resources (GLA) has begun a maiden reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Minjingu uranium project in northern Tanzania.

The Minjingu covers an area of 296.9 square kilometres and is located 106 kilometres southwest of Arusha.

The 1000-metre RC program is aimed at evaluating historical uranium mineralisation which was never followed up. This drilling will systematically target two holes and the 400-metre infill potential of the holes at 100-metre spacings and to a depth of 100 metres.

Kimani Drilling Services will complete the program with a multi-purpose rig expected to mobilise by the end of the week.

In addition to drilling, Gladiator will also conduct an 800-kilometre line ground radiometric survey ahead of mapping, trenching and channel sampling.

Chairman Ian Hastings commented on the programs.

“After completing a comprehensive database compilation and review, we are encouraged by the previously reported mineralisation that shows attractive levels of surface uranium and phosphate mineralisation at Minjingu with potential to generate further targets with our pending regional ground radiometric survey,” he said.

The company’s geology team will collect one-metre samples to conduct preliminary mineralogical studies based on the drilling results.

GLA shares ended the day 14.8 per cent in the green to close at 3.1 cents.
