Genex Power (GNX) has entered into an agreement with Powerlink Queensland for the Bouldercombe Battery Project in Central Queensland.

The bi-directional service provider connection and access agreement allows for the connection of the project into the National Electricity Market (NEM) via Powerlink’s network.

The connection point will be located at the exisiting Bouldercombe Substation, located right near the project.

With this agreement, Bouldercombe is now classified as a committed generator, which allows Genex to focus its attention on the remaining activities associated with achieving financial closure for the project.

Genex CEO James Harding said he was pleased with the agreement.

“Genex has developed a strong relationship with Powerlink over the course of the development of the 250 megawatts Kidston Pumped Storage Hydro Project and the Bouldercombe Battery Project and we look forward to working together over the coming months to deliver this exciting project,” he said.

“Once connected, the Bouldercombe Battery Project will provide a number of network benefits through the provision of frequency control ancillary services, facilitating the further deployment of renewable energy projects in Queensland.”

On the market this afternoon, Genex was up 5.26 per cent and is trading at 20 cents per share at 1:30pm AEDT.
