Vimy Resources (VMY) has appointed Steven Michael as Managing Director and CEO.

Mr Michael has been in the role of Interim CEO since August last year and has been on the Executive Board since November.

The company said Mr Michael was “instrumental” in commencing the Mulga Rock project, which is one of Australia’s largest undeveloped uranium resources. The project is located 290 kilometres from Kalgoorlie, Western Australia.

“Over the past five months Steven has provided excellent leadership as Interim CEO, culminating in the confirmation of Vimy achieving substantial commencement at Mulga Rock in December,” Vimy Chair Cheryl Edwardes AM said.

Mr Michael brings over 25 years’ experience in the global resources sector, specialising in corporate finance and equity capital markets. He was Managing Director at FTI Consulting where he specialised in business transformation for mining companies.

“He has proven himself as the future leader of this company and brings a valuable and diverse range of skills across mining, corporate finance and equity capital markets,” Ms Edwardes added.

In addition to Mr Michael, Vimy Resources recently appointed Dr Tony Chamberlain as Chief Operating Officer. These appointments will assist the company is it progresses the Mulga Rock project through a bankable feasibility study and continues to advance the Alligator River project in the Northern Territory.
