Poseidon Nickel (POS) has reported excellent nickel extraction from its Black Swan project near Kalgoorlie following preliminary test results.

The preliminary leach test work was completed by Pure Battery Technologies (PBT) during leach test work on samples of nickel sulphide concentrates.

The pressure oxidation leach tests were carried out on three different concentrate blends provided by Poseidon, which achieved more than 90 per cent extraction of nickel and more than 95 per cent extraction of cobalt.

“We are delighted that PBT’s preliminary leach test work has returned excellent extraction results for a range of concentrate specifications that could be produced from various feed scenarios (open pit and underground) through the Black Swan concentrator,” Poseidon Nickel Managing Director and CEO Peter Harold said.

“If PBT are successful in the financing and construction of the proposed precursor Cathode Active Material (pCAM) plant this could unlock the additional value for Poseidon from our large mineral resource base.”

PBT’s next steps will involve widening the design feed envelope by testing further blends that align with Poseidon’s Black Swan production plans, along with other nickel sulphide concentrates.

Poseidon Nickel was down 4.76 per cent, trading at 10 cents at 12:10 pm AEDT.
