Eclipse Metals (EPM) has received the final rare earth element (REE) assay results for nine grab samples taken from the Ivittuut (Ivigtût) and Grønnedal-Ika prospects in Greenland.

Eclipse received preliminary results earlier this month which highlighted anomalous total rare earth oxides (TREO) and also showed niobium, tungsten, lead, zinc and silver concentrations.

While the company said the results confirmed the ‘polymetallic nature’ of the prospects, it said it’d be necessary to re-analyse some of the results with more accurate measures because of over-limit values in the first analysis.

Positively, the new assays further confirm the high-grade nature of the area with four out of six samples returning TREO values higher than one per cent.

The company also reported a peak grade of 4.66 per cent TREO from the final batch of results.

Results from the Ivigtût mine dump include 165 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 0.15 per cent copper, 3.83 per cent lead and 0.37 per cent zinc.

Final results from the Grønnedal-Ika prospect include 0.6 per cent lanthanum, 1.7 per cent cerium, 0.24 per cent praseodymium, 0.82 per cent neodymium, 0.16 per cent samarium and 0.11 per cent gadolinium.

Eclipse said the results confirm there’s a consistent relationship between magnetic anomalous zones and REE mineralisation that it will use to guide future surveys and drilling.

Given the spatial (and possibly genetic) relationship, the company plans to create a 3D geophysical model of the historical data over Grønnedal-Ika, which will reportedly help to generate REE drill targets.

“Our grab sampling program has once again verified the potential of both Ivigtût and Grønnedal-Ika to host REE mineralisation as well as precious, base and industrial metals, which is very encouraging, especially as the demand for REEs, in particular dysprosium, neodymium and praseodymium, as well as niobium continues to grow,” Executive Chairman Carl Popal said.

The company is planning to conduct a site visit and submit a work program to the Greenland mineral licence and safety authority to progress exploration at the Greenland prospects.

Shares were up 3.45 per cent to trade at 3 cents at 12:03 am AEDT.
