Blue Star Helium (BNL) has begun mobilising rig equipment and personnel to the Enterprise 16-1 helium well in Colorado as it prepares to commence the workover of the well.

As part of the workover process, the company will set a cement plug from 1150 feet before running a 4.5-inch casing from this depth across the Lyons formation in the well.

Blue Star will then perforate the top of the gas zone from 1045 feet to 1051 feet. The company said it would undertake swabbing operations to remove invaded fluid from the wellbore.

The company said it expected the workover process to take about 12 days to complete, with gas samples obtained from the Lyons formation to be sent for lab analysis.

Blue Star spudded the well in February, drilling to a total depth of 1250 feet and identifying a helium zone in the Lyons formation.

During this drilling, helium gas was identified but was unable to be tested due to subsequent water invasion.

Shares in Blue Star Helium were trading 3.7 per cent higher at 2.8 cents each at 11:50 am AEST.
