Superior Resources (SPQ) has intersected visible copper mineralisation for almost the entirety of Hole 5 at its Bottletree copper prospect in North Queensland.

Hole 5 was drilled to identify mineralised porphyry intrusions, porphyry zonation indicators and test the northern part of a copper-gold-silver and molybdenum geochemically anomalous zone.

While it was designed to be drilled directly beneath Hole 4, Hole 5 diverged 150 metres to the south but intersected variable zones of copper-mineralised veins from near surface to the end of the hole at 933.6 metres.

Stronger copper mineralisation was intercepted between 500 and 700 metres and while the full potential and size of the copper zone is yet to be realised, it remains open in all directions.

Assays have been received for the first 150 metres with assays for the remainder of the hole expected over the next three weeks.

The company also identified a new high-priority 3D induced polarisation (IP) chargeability anomaly 500 metres northwest of Hole 5.

Hole 6 has just been drilled with a distal copper zine intersected at depth.

“Hole 5 has certainly reinforced the very extensive dispersion of copper mineralisation at Bottletree and continues to reinforce the project’s large size potential,” Managing Director Peter Hwang commented.

“Based on the IP geophysical model, we expected large intervals of the hole to be barren, but it is reassuring to see such a broad expanse of copper mineralisation from surface to about 912 metres, although the mineralisation is weak towards the bottom of the hole.

“Separately, we are also pleased to see the down-dip extension of the distal copper zone, which appears to have been intersected over an approximate 250 metre interval and resulting in a total down-dip extent of about 700 metres from surface.”

Superior Resources was up 5.71 per cent on the market with shares trading at 7.4 cents at 11:26 am AEST.
