Tyranna Resources (TYX) has flagged the presence of pollucite — a rare mineral that only comes from three mines in the world — at its Namibe lithium project in Angola

The discovery came as the company kicked off an October maiden drilling program at the Muvero prospect in the project area.

Tyranna took rock chip samples from the pit wall and rubble on the pit floor to confirm the presence of the mineral, with the samples confirming “extremely high” caesium concentrations. One sample recorded 357,246 parts per million, or 37.88 per cent, caesium oxide.

According to Tyranna, pollucite is the only mineral that contains such high concentrations of caesium.

Meanwhile, the maiden drilling program in the area intersected lithium mineralisation, with nine holes drilled for 547.2 metres and all drill core transported by road to the Geoangol facilities in Luanda.

Tyranna expects assay results from this drilling to arrive in February 2023.

Metallurgical testing of the bulk sample collected earlier in the year will commence in the first week of January 2023, and results from this testing are expected to be received in early March 2023.

With the maiden drilling program now complete and lithium mineralisation intersected in the area, Tyranna says follow-up drilling in 2023 is warranted at the project.

Shares in Tyranna Resources were down 6.45 per cent to 2.9 cents at 11:09 am AEDT.
