Roots Sustainable Agricultural Technologies (ROO) has secured a certificate of design registration from the Israeli Patent Office for its Heat Exchange Probe (HEP) technology.

The HEP technology is designed to heat or cool plant substrates in pots, grow bags and soil, which allows farmers to reduce air heating and cooling costs. This helps with creating a sustainable solution for the agricultural industry and also increases crop yield and shortens grow cycles.

This technology is also compatible with the company’s Root Zone Temperature Optimisation (RZTO) system, allowing for a streamlined, cost-effective installation and energy-saving operation.

Roots said today’s milestone gave the company sufficient intellectual property (IP) protection and the ability to ramp up business development across Israel.

Roots has now achieved IP design registration in the majority of the world’s major markets including the US, China, the European Union, India, Canada and the UK.

“Roots continues to gain recognition from government regulators in major markets, and this design registration for our HEP technology in Israel highlights our ongoing approach to innovation and product commercialisation,” CEO Boaz Wachtel said.

“The company continues to advance business development initiatives with farmers and growers in key markets and anticipates additional sales will materialise in the coming months.”

The design registration in Israel is for an initial five years, but this may be extended by four periods of five years each, subject to further applications.

Roots ended the day trading grey at 0.2 cents.
