Kairos Minerals (KAI) has received multi-element results for all 18 drill holes from its Lucky Sump reverse circulation drilling program at the Mt York project in WA.

The company said the results from all 18 holes indicated very high tantalum values. These come from an area where spodumene-bearing pegmatite samples grading up to 1.91 per cent lithium oxide were previously reported from surface.

The tantalum values were “extraordinarily high,” with best results of seven metres at 605 parts per million (ppm) tantalum from 49 metres, including one metre at 2,143 ppm tantalum from 53 metres, with corresponding lithium values of seven metres at 146 ppm lithium.

The company said the results suggest that Lucky Sump comprises “highly fractionated” LCT pegmatites with internal mineralogical zonation.

“The Lucky Sump drill results have shown extremely enriched values of tantalum over seven metres in drill hole KMYC216 that was targeting surface spodumene pegmatites grading up to 1.91 per cent lithium oxide,” Kairos Managing Director Dr Peter Turner said.

Further pegmatites have also been mapped northwest of Lucky Sump towards Zakanaka.

Up to four previously unknown gold zones were also discovered at Lucky Sump, returning 12 metres at 0.46 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 14 metres, which Kairos said required further follow up.

The northern licence will also be mapped in the 2023 field season, where the re-processed soil geochemistry shows a number of high-priority lithium targets.

Kairos Minerals was up 2.27 per cent, trading at 2.3 cents at 2:49 pm AEDT.
