Classic Minerals (CLZ) on Monday reported it was close to reaching the halfway mark in the construction of a tailings storage facility (TSF) at its Kat Gap project in WA.

The company said it was raising the walls of the TSF with the required compaction, with this work to be supervised by Resource Engineering Consultants.

At the same time, liners for the TSF have been delivered to the site for installation next month.

Rolls of water pipe were also delivered to Kat Gap and were offloaded and placed next to the water tanks in preparation for installation.

The company received approval for a water pipeline pathway from the bore to the plant site back in November.

This “vital” part of the project is permitted to take up to 100 million litres of water annually from the bore.

The Kat Gap project lies 170 kilometres south of Southern Cross, and the CLZ established an average head grade of 6.06 grams of gold per tonne in its first bulk sample ore.

Company shares were up 8.33 per cent to 0.65 cents at 11:00 am AEDT.
