Leo Lithium (LLL) has awarded a mining services contract for its Goulamina lithium project to Corica Mali, worth approximately US$348 million (A$520 million).

Corica has a successful track record with more than 2,000 employees and operations spanning the West African region for 20 years.

The experienced miner provides large-scale mining services to a number of leading ASX and TSX-listed mining companies across seven operations in Mali and neighbouring countries, Côte d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso.

The contract was awarded following a competitive tender process and extensive due diligence, based on safety, experience, capability, equipment availability and cost.

The contract encapsulates six months of pre-production activities at Goulamina, followed by a fixed five-year term, with a scope of grade control, drill and blast, load and haul, and plant ore feed services.

LLL Managing Director Simon Hay said the company was “delighted” to appoint Corica as its mining services contractor.

“With the mining contractor now in place, Leo Lithium has taken another major step towards realising its target of first spodumene concentrate production in H1 2024,” he said.

The planned material movement target is set between 18 million to 20 million tonnes (Mt) of lithium per annum over the term.

Corica has already mobilised to the site under an early works contract and is currently conducting pre-strip and direct shipped ore (DSO) mining and crushing services.

LLL shares were down 0.42 per cent, trading at $1.20 at 2:34 pm AEST.
