Nimy Resources (ASX:NIM) has extended the mineralisation of its Masson Prospect in Western Australia, with an eight-hole drilling program suggesting a potential high-grade feeder source of copper, nickel, cobalt and platinum.

The results have been taken from an entirely new greenstone belt held by Nimy, which had been previously mapped as holding only granite, but drilling has shown significant and disseminated nickel, copper, cobalt and platinum group elements (PGEs) in sulphides.

Drilling to 240 metres revealed sulphide-rich intercepts up to 45 metres thick include copper to 0.69%, nickel to 0.70%, cobalt to 0.16% and PGEs to 0.59g/t.

Masson is part of Nimy’s Mons Project which sits within WA’s Yilgarn Craton, and executive director Luke Hampson said the recent results hinted at mineralisation similar to the state’s other impressive copper-nickel-cobalt finds Nova Bollinger and Savannah.

“The follow up eight-hole drill program has significantly enhanced the prospectivity of the Masson Prospect and the entire newly identified greenstone belt under cover and unexplored that is held by Nimy Resources,” he said.

“Drilling has extended the sulphide zone to a 160 metre strike length and to a depth of 216 metres.

“The copper, nickel, cobalt and platinum group element sulphide mineralisation is associated with a mafic intrusive rock similar to the Nova Bollinger and Savannah deposits in Western Australia. This setting is entirely different to the thick komatiite flows found in the southern part of the Mons Project.”

Mineralisation at Masson Prospect is subvertical and now extends 160 metres along strike and down dip, remaining open in all directions.

Nimy intends to follow up this work with drillhole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys before embarking on targeted drilling to reach the high-grade mineralisation indicated.

Nimy Resources is trading at 8cps.
