Patriot Battery Metals Ltd (ASX:PMT) has extended the high-grade ‘Vega Zone’ at one of its focal spodumene-hosting pegmatites at the Corvette lithium project in Canada, with thick intercepts of mineralisation which included the highest individual core sample at Corvette, at 1.7 metres at 7.01 percent lithium oxide (Li2O).

Other intercepts included including 13.5 metres at 1.15 percent Li2O, and 8.6 metres at 1.21 percent Li2O from two different drill holes.

The CV13 pegmatite was one of several targeted during Patriot’s winter drilling program, and it is located 3 km west-southwest of the CV5 pegmatite, which the company has defined as having an (inferred) maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 109.2 million tonnes at 1.42 percent Li2O.

The latter pegmatite is also located approximately 13.5 kilometres south of significant infrastructure including the regional and all‑weather Trans-Taiga Road and powerlines, with the Corvette project itself located in Quebec’s Eeyou Istchee James Bay region.

The ‘Vega Zone’ of CV13 is also open in several directions with numerous holes yet to be reported, and its high-grade mineralisation is quite flat lying to shallow dipping, and has been delineated over a significant area and thickness.

Patriot is planning to target this zone in the project’s summer drilling program, with details to be released to the market in the coming weeks. In addition to this, Patriot is still to release results from 83 holes from its winter program, including 67 holes at CV5, and 16 holes at CV13.

Exploration vice president Darren L Smith said the drilling from the CV13 pegmatite had yielded promising results.

“The immediate follow up holes targeting an expansion of the high-grade Vega Zone have been extremely successful, returning among the widest and most well-mineralized pegmatite intercepts to date at CV13,” he said.

“This now also includes the highest grading individual core sample returned to date from Corvette at 7.01 percent Li2O (over 1.7 metres) from hole CV24-507 in the Vega Zone.”

“The high-grade mineralization is relatively flat lying to shallow dipping and has now been delineated over a significant area and thickness.”

He added that given the open nature of the zone, there was potential for further expansion, particularly given the many holes yet to be reported.

Patriot Battery Metals has been trading at 74 cents.
