TG Metals Ltd (ASX:TG6) has been able to produce spodumene concentrate grading 6.31% lithium oxide (Li2O) through DMS (Dense Media Separation) processing, according to preliminary results from its metallurgical testwork on the Burmeister deposit in Western Australia.

The deposit is part of TG Metals’ wider Lake Johnston Lithium Project, located 300 kilometres from Kalgoorlie.

Independent Metallurgical Operations Pty Ltd (IMO) was hired to carry out the testing, which showed positive results at all stages, starting with a 15-39% increase in Lithia head-grade and 65-70% iron rejection during the precondition of ore feed.

The Burmeister pegmatite responded well to initial Heavy Liquid Separation (HLS), being able to produce a high-grade, low impurity spodumene concentrate. This was followed by the DMS result of 6.31% Li2O.

CEO David Selfe said he was pleased with the results.

“These initial sighter metallurgical testwork on the Burmeister pegmatites are outstanding and support the potential to achieve a SC6 (6.0% Li2O spodumene concentrate) concentrate
utilising HLS processing technology that supports our initial assumptions ‘simple mineralogy equals simple processing’,” he said.

“As we progress Burmeister, we aim to demonstrate a mineral resource conducive to open-pit mining and simple metallurgy, providing favourable economics for a spodumene lithium hard rock mining and processing operation.”

Shares in TG Metals rose on the news, and at 14:17 AEDT, they were trading at 17.5 cents – a rise of 16.66% since the market opened.
