Legend Mining preparing for maiden drilling program at Pyrophyllite Hill

Legend Mining (ASX: LEG) is on target to commence a maiden drilling program at the Pyrophyllite Hill prospect at the Pinnacle Well project near Leonora in WA after signing a rig contract.

Drilling is expected to kick off by late October after the company received the heritage survey report with all statutory approvals now received for aircore drilling at the Pyrophyllite Hill prospect.

The report covers both the Pyrophyllite Hill and Alpha North prospects and is an area clearance report, meaning that Legend is able to progress drilling activity at both prospects without having to conduct further heritage surveys.

“We are very pleased to have the green light to start drilling at Pinnacle Well. These will be the first drill holes at the project since 2006 and will focus on a compelling multi feature IP anomaly at Pyrophyllite Hill,” chair, Mark Wilson, said.

“The geology and geochemistry data from this round of drilling will be vital inputs into planning the follow-up RC program.”

The aircore drilling programme will comprise 50 holes for approximately 2,500m and is designed to test a one km by 500m area centred over the pyrophyllite alteration zone, a 600m chargeable-resistivity PDIP feature and a hydrothermal soil anomaly.

Mr Wilson said the program will provide valuable geological information regarding the type and extent of alteration along with full multi0element geochemistry across the prospect ahead of designing follow-up RC drilling.

The Pyrophyllite Hill prospect is considered prospective for both intrusion-related and structurally controlled gold mineralisation. This is supported by several coincident key indicators;

• Areally extensive pyrophyllite alteration (approximately 1300m x 700m)

• Pole-dipole induced polarisation (PDIP) surveying identification of a strong 600m strike length

chargeable-resistive feature

• Elevated gold results in rockchip samples associated with strong quartz-chlorite-siderite-

goethite-limonite-magnetite alteration

• Hydrothermal associated multielement (Ag-Cd-Hg-Sb-As) Ultra Fine Fraction (UFF) soil

anomalism

• Proximity to NW-SE trending structures related to the Keith-Kilkenny Fault Zone.

Mr Wilson said the geological knowledge and assay results obtained from the aircore drilling will be used to assist with planning a follow-up RC drilling program, which will also target the strong chargeable- resistivity PDIP feature identified in previous surveying.

LEG was steady at 0.7¢ with a Mkt cap of $20.40M prior to markets opening.
