The ASX 200 has handed back some of its mid-morning gains to settle at 7,968 points so far on Monday; a 0.2% gain on Friday’s below-8,000-pt close.

Looking at sectors, Energy has been up the most, +1.43% higher, while Materials and IT followed nearly 1% up. Healthcare has been the biggest laggard, dipping 0.33%, while Communication was just behind, -0.32%.

Star Entertainment (ASX:SGR) is among the top trending stocks on HotCopper forums today as U.S. casino operator Bally Corporation circles as a potential buyer.

Also closely watched – and heavily discussed – is Boss Energy (ASX:BOE) which just signed an earn-in agreement with Eclipse Metals (ASX:EPM) to work on the Northern Territory-based Liverpool Project together to 2029.

Boss has sold -2.4% lower today, to around $2.24 a share. Eclipse is up +20%.

Finally, New Murchison Gold (ASX:NMG) has got chins wagging on the forums after finding visible gold intersecting its diamond drilling at Crown Prince.

NMG has gained +21% today to trade at around 1.2cps.
