  • RC drilling underway testing for larger gold system
  • System interpreted to lie beyond the margin of company’s maiden drill pattern
  • Follow-up program designed to test strengthening alteration, sulphidation and pathfinder trends
  • Rochefort sits within the same belt as New Murchison Gold’s Garden Gully project

PLC Resources (ASX: PLC) is spinning the bit with a reverse circulation (RC) drilling program at the Rochefort gold prospect in Western Australia.

The Watchlist — short video interviews with ASX leaders. Watch now.

The follow-up program builds directly on PLC’s maiden five-hole, 1,020m RC drilling program at Rochefort which returned anomalous gold (up to 0.4 g/t Au) in three of five holes hosted within highly fractionated dolerite, together with a coherent and strengthening pattern of alteration, sulphidation and pathfinder geochemistry.

PLC believes these mutually reinforcing vectors indicate that this maiden drilling may have clipped the margin of a larger gold system, with the current program designed to test for that system to the northwest of, and at depth below, the maiden drill pattern.

The program comprises approximately eight RC holes for approximately 2,400m, targeting the interpreted north-western and down-dip extensions of the maiden drill pattern, and is expected to be completed in 14 days, with the first assay results anticipated in approximately four to six weeks.

“It’s great to have the rig turning again at Rochefort. We’ve built a strong technical case for a larger gold system beyond our maiden drilling – a favourable host rock, strengthening alteration and sulphidation, pathfinder and spatial trends that all point in the same way, to the northwest and at depth,” executive director Simon Phillips said.

“This program is designed to directly test that target, and because our approvals were already in place we’ve been able to get back to it quickly.

“Rochefort is only one part of the picture at Abbotts North. We continue to advance our newly interpreted regional structural corridor in parallel.”

PLC was steady 0.7¢. Mkt cap $8.214M.
