The Watchlist — short video interviews with ASX leaders. Watch now.

Meteoric Resources (ASX: MEI) took off after it entered into a binding scheme implementation deed (SID) under which it is proposed that Lynas Rare Earths (ASX: LYC) will acquire 100% of the shares in Meteoric.

The transaction brings Meteoric’s flagship Caldeira rare earth project and Brazilian expertise together with Lynas’ existing industry leading operations.

The Meteoric board unanimously supports the scheme and has unanimously recommended that Meteoric shareholders vote in its favour.

Tolga Kumova, Meteoric’s largest shareholder, and his associated entities, which together currently hold approximately 6.7% of Meteoric’s ordinary shares outstanding, have confirmed their intention to vote all Meteoric shares held or controlled by them.

MEI jumped 51.5% to 25.8¢.

Marmota (ASX: MEU) was popular on HotCopper after it announced impressive first assay results from a maiden drilling program to the south of the Greenewood gold discovery in South Australia.

Marmota’s maiden Greenewood program is yielding some of the best gold results seen in the Gawler Craton since the discovery of the Challenger deposit in 1995.

The outstanding gold assays, featuring the discovery of contiguous high-grade gold, starting close to surface, featuring thick wide intercepts that extend deeper to fresh rock.

“The discovery of contiguous high-grade gold, so close to surface, first in the Greenewood zone, and now also in the Mainwood zone, is very exciting. It massively extends the strike of the deposit, and it is a wonderful start to the inflow of assays,” chairman, Dr Colin Rose, said.

MEU was up 5.48% to 7.7¢.

Manuka Resources (ASX: MKR) jumped after it received its first gold revenues following the recent restart of gold production at the Wonawinta processing facility in the Cobar Basin, NSW.

The gold sale represents an important milestone in the restart of the Wonawinta processing facility, with Manuka having progressed from recommencement of gold processing on 22 August, through to the generation of cash revenue from gold production to early 2027.

Gold production represents the first stage of Manuka’s broader production strategy at Wonawinta.

“Manuka is building a long-life precious metals production business in the Cobar Basin, centred on our Wonawinta processing facility and our 100% owned various sources of gold and silver mill feed,” executive chairman, Dennis Karp, said.

MKR was up 10.3% to 6.4c.

Looking wider, S&P/ASX 200 was sharply lower today, dropping 142.00 points or 1.62% to 8,647.30. The bottom performing stocks in this index were Liontown and Cochlear, down 11.83% and 6.86% respectively. The index has lost 0.63% for the last five days but is virtually unchanged year to date.

Elsewhere, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has reported that job vacancies fell to 325,000 in August 2026.

“Job vacancies fell by 3,000, or 0.9%, in the three months to August 2026. This followed a decline of 2.2% in the previous three months,” Sean Crick, ABS head of labour statistics, said.

“The decline in job vacancies was driven by the private sector, notably in business goods and services. This was offset somewhat by rises in customer facing roles including in Retail trade.

“Over the year, job vacancies declined by 1.3%.”
