- New hole has returned multiple gold intersections
- Results increase known strike length of the recently discovered broad stockwork vein zone
- Stockwork veins extend from surface to at least 230m depth
- Significant gold intersections in the three holes drilled into the broad stockwork vein gold zone
Unity Metals (ASX: UM1) has reported promising drilling results for two holes completed at the O’Phlay gold project in eastern Cambodia.
Both drill holes were designed to test for strike extensions to the highly significant gold mineralisation intersected previously of 40m at 1.9 grams per tonne (g/t) and 70.4m at 1.1 g/t.
To date, Unity has drilled seven diamond holes for 1,243.9m at the Camp prospect at O’Phlay.
“Our excitement over the O’Phlay gold discovery continues to build. Holes 26DDCM006 and 007 were designed to test for strike extensions to the broad zone of gold-bearing stockwork vein mineralisation discovered in holes 26DDCM001 and 005,” Craig Mackay, founder and MD, said.
“The latest assays confirm that the gold mineralisation extends to the northeast and remains open in this direction and open at depth. We are less certain about the continuation of mineralisation to the southwest and further drilling is required in this area.
?”While we look forward to drilling to further extend the existing stockwork mineralisation at the Camp prospect, we are mindful that it is still early days at O’Phlay and we have only conducted a single phase of drilling in one small area in this highly prospective project.
“We are particularly excited to kick off the first drilling on the surrounding look-alike demagnetised zone targets, some of which are much more extensive than the only magnetic low anomaly we have drilled so far at Camp. Some of these target areas are also associated with much larger historical mine workings, such as those at the Toulsrolaov prospect, 800m west-northwest.”
Preparations for the re-commencement of drilling at O’Phlay are well underway, with the access road presently being upgraded to improve travel times through the remainder of the monsoon season. The man-portable drilling rig Unity has been using at O’Phlay to date is being replaced with a track-mounted rig with the capacity to drill deeper holes should this need be required.
“At this stage, we now expect the drilling to commence immediately after the Cambodian Pchum Ben Festival public holidays on 10th to 12th of October.”
UM1 was up 1.92% to 13.3¢. Mkt cap $22.07M.
