Haranga Resources (ASX: HAR) has appointed Patrick Mootz as its new Managing Director and CEO, bringing extensive mining development and operational experience to the company as it advances the Lincoln Gold Project in California. In this Capital Compass interview, Mootz outlines his priorities for the project, the work underway to support its redevelopment and the key milestones ahead.

“
What stands out about Lincoln is that it is real. The underground mine not only exists, but it has now been fully dewatered, and the electrical and the ventilation services have been refurbished.

Haranga Resources (ASX:HAR) is re-developing the high-grade Lincoln Gold project

HIGHLIGHTS

  • High-grade resource: Lincoln hosts a JORC-compliant mineral resource of approximately 400,000 ounces of gold at 5 grams per tonne.

  • Existing infrastructure: The underground mine has been dewatered, with electrical and ventilation services refurbished. A processing plant and key infrastructure are also in place.

  • Underground drilling: The second phase of diamond drilling aims to increase confidence in the existing resource and test opportunities to expand mineralisation.

  • Redevelopment strategy: Haranga is reviewing the project’s development pathway, including the appropriate production scale and work required to support a safe, sustainable restart.

  • Pre-feasibility study: The company is identifying an independent mining services group to undertake a preliminary feasibility study, with further clarity on the redevelopment strategy expected in the coming weeks.

  • Exploration upside: Mootz sees potential to grow the resource beyond one million ounces, with the broader Mother Lode region offering further exploration opportunities.

  • Upcoming milestones: Investors can watch for Phase 2 drilling results, an update to the mineral resource estimate, the potential conversion of the Spring Hill exploration target into a JORC resource, and the company’s planned rebrand to American West Gold.

  • Senegal assets: Haranga is assessing options to realise shareholder value from its Saria uranium project and Ibol South gold project as it sharpens its focus on Lincoln.
“
With the mine, the processing infrastructure, and the key permits already in place, the path to redevelopment of the Lincoln project will be much shorter and the capital cost will be much lower than, say, a greenfields project development.
”
— Managing Director & CEO Patrick Mootz
