Alicanto Minerals (AQI) has obtained assays from 42 historical holes at its Sala Project in Sweden that were held by the Swedish Geological Survey (SGS).
Assays from these 42 holes have been held in the archives as according to Swedish law, results obtained before 1992 are not available to the public unless released by the original owners.
Notably, these assays include the highest zinc grades to data from Sala with a best result of 13.6 metres at seven per cent zinc and 0.5 per cent lead including 1.2 metres at 38.5 per cent zinc and 2.4 per cent lead.
Other results include 32.7 metres at 5.4 per cent zinc and 0.4 per cent lead including 2.2 metres at 210 grams per tonne (g/t) silver, 16.4 per cent zinc and 2.3 per cent lead.
These assays have expanded the resource drilling target area to the east and the surface and reveal a host of high-grade mineralisation directly above the area Alicanto is currently drilling at the Prince lode.
“These results reveal extensive high-grade mineralisation at Prince from near the surface. We believe this mineralisation may link up with intersections down to at least 500 metres deep,” Managing Director Peter George stated.
“The results also show that high-grade mineralisation stretches a further 600 metres to the south near the surface. This knowledge will reduce our drilling costs and accelerate our program in this area.”
“We are now drilling in the area between these assays and the Prince target area to confirm the continuity between the two. The combination of our drilling and these assays will underpin the maiden JORC Resource, which we aim to complete in the coming quarter.”
Alicanto was up 2.08 per cent on the market with shares trading at 9.8 cents at 2:18 pm AEDT.
