South Australian gas explorer Alligator Energy (ASX:AGE) has started work on a bankable feasibility study (BFS) for the Samphire Uranium Project, with the crucial study – expected to form “a critical foundation for future decisions” at the flagship – now scheduled to be rubber-stamped in the first half of CY27.

“This study commencement marks another milestone for Samphire and reflects the steady progression of the project through key development phases,” Alligator chief Andrew Marsland-Smith declared today.

The time’s ideal, Ms Marsland-Smith added, because Alligator is just about to wrap up commissioning and start on field recovery trials. “This work positions Alligator well as we move into an active period of trial operations and technical de-risking, while continuing to build value across the project.”

The BFS’s leading objective is to integrate real-world data harvested by the ongoing field recovery trials. Validated operating parameters, recovery performance metrics, and site-specific costs will all be included, too.

Alligator has a clear work timeline on when it wants to get everything put together, with first-half CY27 now circled on every company calendar.

Once finalised, the study will stand as a pillar in Alligator’s next steps, including for project execution planning, any financing considerations that arise in the late 2020s, and the technical de-risking to come at Samphire.

Samphire is a core part of Alligator’s wider uranium portfolio and will dominate a large portion of the company’s focus through to early CY27. The leadership team overseeing the BFS has already done similar studies in the past, including at the Wiluna uranium project and at the Husab uranium mine.

In the first hour of Thursday trade, AGE has been 4.6cps.
