Amaero International (3DA) has launched its Adelaide facility in partnership with the University of Adelaide.

The facility was officially opened today by the South Australian Minister for Innovation and Skills, the Hon. David Pisoni.

“Amaero is thrilled to be establishing a facility in South Australia, which is fast becoming a centre of aerospace and the defence industry,” Amaero CEO Barrie Finnin said.

“This facility is a key enabler to help with the adoption of metal 3D printing by local companies that will drive innovation and the translation into new-to-world and new-to-industry products, services and processes,” David stated.

The facility contains three Renishaw AM 400 3D printing machines and ancillary equipment.

The University of Adelaide originally established the facility, with funding from the South Australian Government, but Amaero joined as an industry-leading partner.

In October 2019, Amaero and the University of Adelaide signed a partnership agreement to develop an additive manufacturing capability in South Australia.

Amaero had already established facilities in Melbourne and California, but the South Australian Government is focused on the defence, health and industrial manufacturing industries which make the state a good fit for Amaero.

The partnership entails continuing the activities of the South Australian Additive Manufacturing Applied Research Network (AMARN). These activities include expanding equipment, and human capital and capability, to make Adelaide a leader in 3D printing research, education and manufacturing.

Amaero is down 4.17 per cent and shares are trading for 11.5 cents each at 3:31 pm AEDT.
