American Rare Earths (ARR) will soon begin drilling the La Paz Southwest Project area in the US state of Arizona.

The Southwest project is part of the wider La Paz Rare Earth Project area which is owned by ARR’s subsidiary.

It hosts an Exploration Target of up to 928 million tonnes of rare earth mineralised rocks with average TREO grades of 350 parts per million to 400ppm and scandium oxide grade of between 20ppm to 24.5ppm.

The company plans to carry out an eight hole diamond drill program across 900 metres, testing the lateral and vertical extent of mineralisation in the area.

Drilling will get underway early next year with geological mapping to also be carried out on 20 additional mining claims, covering 167 hectares.

ARR said if the drilling was successful, it would develop the Southwest area in conjunction with the La Paz maiden resource area located in the Northeast.

Managing Director Keith Middleton said La Paz had enormous potential.

“In 2019 we noted that the La Paz Rare Earth Project ‘excels by its sheer volume’, to quote technical reports available, and suspected there was an opportunity to develop the asset further,” Mr Middleton said.

“Today, we can say that the La Paz project continues to exceed our expectations
and provides huge potential and future flexibility to develop the La Paz REE project.

“The exploration target and exploration drilling are the first steps in our plans to define extensive mineable resources.”

Shares in American Rare Earths were down 7.5 per cent at 18.5 cents each at 11:03 am AEST.
