Anson Resources (ASN) has staked a further 228 strategic claims adjacent to the Paradox Brine Project in Utah.

The claims abut the project’s western edge and increase its total footprint by 18.4 square kilometres, or 20 per cent, to 114 square kilometres.

In a statement today ASN said the additions contained an area of 8.5 square kilometres within the area of influence (AOI) of the existing indicated and inferred resource estimates. This would be added to the updated total JORC resource estimate, which is currently underway.

Looking ahead, the company is planning to conduct a two-well re-entry program to convert the inferred resource to a combined indicated and inferred resource.

To this end, ASN said the newly pegged claims to the west of the Suburst and Mineral Canyon wells would be included in any revised indicated and Inferred JORC resource estimates, should the re-entry be successful.

The above claims are currently under application with the Department of Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for both re-entry and sampling.

As such, the BLM has requested Anson prepare an environmental assessment (EA) study of the area anticipated be impacted by the planned exploration program.

The company expects to complete and submit the EA shortly.

In addition, the company said samples of brine would be collected from the wells, subject to BLM’s approval. The samples would then be tested for minerals, including lithium, bromine, iodine and boron concentrations in several clastic horizons.

Finally, an exploration target of up to a further 700 million tonnes of brine grading, in the range of 50 milligrams per litre (mg/L) to 300mg/L lithium and 2000mgL to 4000mg/L bromine, has been estimated for the clastic zones mentioned above.

The exploration target occurs within the project’s placer claims totalling 9566 hectares.

On the back of the announcement, shares were down 1.15 per cent to 8.6 cents each at 2:29 pm AEDT.
