Futures are pointing to a slight bounceback for the ASX 200 on Tuesday morning, with trade talks between the European Union and the United States driving a modestly dovish sentiment across more global markets early in the week.

Listen to the HotCopper podcast for in-depth discussions and insights on all the biggest headlines from throughout the week. On Spotify, Apple, and more.

Europe has led price changes in Week 22 so far after Ursula von der Leyen negotiated a one-month pause on Trump’s EU tariffs — a 50% slap, he had said.

The Stoxx 600 climbed 1%, while Wall Street’s indexes added around the same.

Back home, all this will see the Aussie bourse rise around +0.24% at open.

In Oz news, several big buyers are circling Healthscope after it entered receivership on Monday; the break-up is still unfolding, but with Ramsay Health Care (ASX:RHC) and HMC Capital (ASX:HMC) interested, there’s a “stable path to a sale.”

Woodside Energy (ASX:WDS) has hit a snag in its $30 billion, decades-long North West Shelf gas plant extension, too, after a “smoking gun” — a 30-year-old rock — raised new questions about the plant’s long-term safety.

Elsewhere, Everest Metals (ASX:EMC) started reverse circulation drilling at Mt. Dimer Project to test high-priority targets through anomaly interpretation.

Deloitte Economics also today warned there are “imbalances in where jobs are being generated,” though did add the economy is meant to strengthen this year.

More economic data coming soon too: The Oz CPI indicator is due 12:30pm tomorrow.
