Video tech company Atomos (AMS) is set to expand its flagship Ninja range with two new products and a software upgrade.

Based in Australia, and with offices around the world, Atomos produces simple-to-use monitor-recorder products for content creation.

Ninja V+

The company is gearing up to expand on its Ninja V product by introducing the Ninja V+ as the world’s first monitor recorder capable of 8000-pixel (8K) recording with a high-frame rate.

Atomos says the latest device will be available in mid-May at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US$1499 (roughly A$1923).

Ninja Stream

Additionally, AMS is preparing to unveil the Atomos Ninja Stream, which it describes as a five-inch 4Kp60 HDR monitor recorder with Wi-Fi, ethernet and cellular capabilities.

The Ninja Stream is slated to have unmatched capability — designed specifically to overcome the social distancing challenges of present-day productions.

AMS will initially sell the premium-priced device into the large production rental market, with the aim to eventually incorporate the technology into future Ninja products on a smaller scale for professional video and consumer markets.

H.265 for Ninja V

Rounding out the expansion, Atomos will shortly enable its Ninja V product for H.265 video codec.

The format provides high-quality compressed recordings with small file sizes, making it ideal for online streaming and sharing.

The US$99 (around A$77) software upgrade will be available in the coming weeks.

Live launch

To catapult its new products into market, Atomos Founder Jeromy Young will facilitate a live video launch event on May 6.

“First is the big brother to our hugely successful Ninja V, the Ninja V+,” Jeromy commented.

“8K RAW capable with Canon R5 and 4K 120 RAW from Sony as our camera launch partners, the new Ninja Stream is the solution to social distance regulated entertainment productions,” he explained.

“We utilise the highest quality wireless, ethernet and mobile networks directly on our Ninja Stream to eliminate numerous complex set ups and get movies and their stakeholders truly connected to the movie being made, no matter their proximity to shooting.”

AMS Executive Chairman Chris Tait echoed Jeromy’s comments.

“It is great to see these new products coming to market — they are very complementary to the hugely successful Ninja V and set us up well for growth into financial year 2022,” Chris said.

Details of how to join the launch will be made available on the company’s website 24 hours prior to the event.

Atomos shares are 3.08 per cent lower, trading at 94.5 cents each at 4:54 pm AEST.
