Auris Minerals (AUR) has intersected “encouraging” zones of quartz veining and alteration from reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Durack East prospect at its Feather Cap gold project in Western Australia.

The company said the zones occur down-dip from high-grade gold mineralisation it encountered in previous aircore (AC) drilling.

The recently completed round of RC drilling at Durack East, comprising four holes totalling 709 metres, was designed to test for dip extensions to the gold mineralisation picked up in the AC program.

Intercepts from the AC drilling included eight metres grading 5.44 grams per tonne gold from 87 metres, containing a one metre interval at 26.7 g/t, and 10 metres at 1.22 g/t from 85 metres.

Auris said initial assay results from the RC drilling were expected in two to three weeks.

One of the RC holes revealed a zone of five to 50 per cent quartz veining between 123 metres and 133 metres, according to the company, adding that another of the RC holes intersected comparable veining between 98 and 104m.

“We are very encouraged to have intersected zones of prospective alteration and quartz veining within the completed RC drill program at Durack East,” Managing Director Mike Hendriks said.

“An infill AC drill program to further define the mineralised trend at Durack East is planned, pending relevant heritage clearances and drill rig availability. Results from this AC drilling will assist with ongoing interpretation of the Feather Cap-Durack East prospect as we continue to prove up our theory of a much larger mineralised strike potential of 6.2-kilometre gold system being hosted between the Morck Well and Feather Cap projects.”

The additional AC drilling at Durack East will be aimed at infilling the interpreted mineralised trend to a 200m line spacing and further evaluating shallow high-grade mineralisation within a previous AC hole that returned five metres at 14.3 g/t from 40 metres.

Feather Cap lies about 95 kilometres north of Meekatharra in the Bryah Basin.

Auris said pending assay data from recent AC drilling completed by its joint venture partner Sandfire Resources (SFR) to the south of Durack East within the Morck Well project area and adjacent to the Feather Cap tenement boundary would provide further valuable information to assist with the ongoing interpretation of the prospective region.

AUR shares were steady at five cents at 2:39 pm AEDT.
