Large parts of Victoria have been lashed by wild winds, heavy rain and flash flooding, including parts of locked-down Melbourne.
An evacuation order has been issued for residents near Traralgon Creek, as floodwaters continue to rise rapidly.
More than 250 millimetres of rain has fallen in the La Trobe Valley region since Wednesday morning, with another 10 mills expected today.
A mother and son were also rescued by police officers on Wednesday night after a tree fell through the roof of their home in the Dandenong Ranges.
In a statement, Vic Police said officers made their way to the house on foot after becoming trapped by fallen trees as well.
The officers managed to free the injured pair a short time later before the rescued duo were treated by St John Ambulance crews.
All up, Victorian authorities received around 3600 calls for help overnight while over 230,000 people were left without power across the state.
Around 35,000 people remain without power on Thursday morning, as power crews continue to clear debris.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued 13 flood warnings for various regions across the state, with major flood warnings in place for the Latrobe, Macalister, Thomson, Goulburn river and Traralgon creek.
BOM has also issued a severe weather warning for large parts of Melbourne and surrounding areas, which remain under lockdown.
The weather bureau said the severe weather should begin to ease from Thursday afternoon, though more rain is expected.
Meantime, the State Government is expected to lift restrictions across Melbourne after two weeks of lockdowns from midnight.
