Bass Oil has taken site delivery of the water treatment equipment to be installed at its onshore Indonesian fields.
This is in preparation of the upcoming water injection trials to lift production and reserves from oil wells at the Tangai-Sukananti KSO Project.
The company’s focus is on building its onshore Indonesian oil and gas business, particularly in the South Sumatra region. It holds a 55 per cent interest in the Tangai Sukananti KSO Project.
“The pilot project will be conducted over 6-months and the results monitored to determine the degree of increased recovery compared with existing baseline production rate values,” Managing Director Tino Guglielmo said.
Bass Oil has anticipated a potential 10 per cent increase in output and recoveries per well for both existing and new wells to be drilled – one of which being the Bunian 5 well expected in October this year. The company will test increased production rates when it moves in the first half of 2020 to the six-month water injection pilot.
The in-field trials are being supported by Bass Oil’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) to trial Low-Salinity Water Injection (LSWI) at the Tangai oil field.
The MoU will facilitate Bass Oil and ITB’s research on implementing ‘smart’, low-salinity water-flooding systems for enhanced oil recovery.
“This mutually beneficial relationship could see Bass significantly benefit from the outcomes of the studies in improving oil recovery techniques using this relatively low cost technique,” Tino said.
Depending on first field trial results, Bass Oil and ITB are expected to commence the pilot water injection project in January 2020.
